GERM 000. German Study Abroad1-15 Units

Prerequisite(s): Membership in a Language Study Abroad Program and/or programs approved by the Department of Classical and Modern Languages.

Description: Credit awarded to students who have successfully completed the program. Upon return, the student will be required to demonstrate proficiency at a level agreed upon by the Department of Classical and Modern Languages prior to departure.

GERM 121. Basic German I4 Units

Description: For beginners. Basic grammar, with practice in hearing, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis on communicative competency.

GERM 201. Intermediate German I3 Units

Prerequisite(s): GERM 123.

Description: This course will review and provide practice in the fundamentals of verbs, including tenses, prefixes and modal auxiliaries. Fundamentals of the case will also be covered, including articles, adjectives and pronouns.

GERM 202. Intermediate German II3 Units

Prerequisite(s): GERM 201 or permission of instructor.

Description: Continuation of the review and practice begun in Intermediate German I. Grammar of adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and clauses, and advanced review and practice of conditional mode, indirect discourse, and passive voice.
