Honors (HON)

Subject-area course lists indicate courses currently active for offering at the University of Louisville. Not all courses are scheduled in any given academic term. For class offerings in a specific semester, refer to the Schedule of Classes.

500-level courses generally are included in both the undergraduate- and graduate-level course listings; however, specific course/section offerings may vary between semesters. Students are responsible for ensuring that they enroll in courses that are applicable to their particular academic programs.

HON 101. Honors First-year Experience1 Unit

HON 190. Grawemeyer Scholars Seminar1 Unit

Description: This course is restricted to first-year Grawemeyer Scholars. It provides participants with practical information, campus resources, and requirements necessary to succeed as Grawemeyer Scholars. Meetings may include: faculty directors of the Grawemeyer Awards, Vice President for Research and Innovation, Director of Graduate Scholarships, Associate Director for Study Abroad, and other campus resources. Course will also include a handful of field trips into the community to meet with leaders of civic, cultural, educational, and community service organizations.

HON 201. Brown Fellows Seminar1 Unit

Term Typically Offered: Spring Only

Description: This course is restricted to students in the Brown Fellows Program. Students will enroll in the course a total of three times during their undergraduate careers, registering for a different section number (01, 02, 03) each time, for a total of three credit hours. Coursework will consist of readings and discussions to prepare students for and reflect on various aspects of the Brown Fellows program, including leadership training and local service; group international study; independent enrichment projects; and group travel throughout the state of Kentucky.

HON 202. Windows on the World1 Unit

Description: Directed readings and discussion of local, national and global events from the perspective of the liberal arts and sciences, with emphasis on critical analysis and self-presentation in discussion and interview formats.
