DES 105. Foundation 2-D Design3 Units

Description: Exploration of the principles and elements of two-dimensional design through the study of line, form, value, color, and composition. Emphasis is placed on visual hierarchy, rhythm, and clarity as ideas are developed into cohesive visual statements. Projects integrate abstract and communicative approaches using type, image, and other design elements to build a strong foundation in visual organization and design thinking.

DES 106. Foundation 3-D Design3 Units

Description: Exploration of the principles and elements of three-dimensional design through the study of line, form, space, light, color, and composition. Emphasis is placed on proportion, structure, and the behavior of materials through hands-on making. Projects develop spatial awareness and an understanding of how form and material communicate in three dimensions.

Description: Internships in graphic design are paid, hands-on work experience to implement the skills learned during the course of graphic design program study.
