Liberal Studies (LBST)

Subject-area course lists indicate courses currently active for offering at the University of Louisville. Not all courses are scheduled in any given academic term. For class offerings in a specific semester, refer to the Schedule of Classes.

500-level courses generally are included in both the undergraduate- and graduate-level course listings; however, specific course/section offerings may vary between semesters. Students are responsible for ensuring that they enroll in courses that are applicable to their particular academic programs.

LBST 300. Forms of Interdisciplinary Inquiry3 Units

Term Typically Offered: Fall, Spring

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing.

Description: Introduction to interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary inquiry, analysis, and methods.

Note: It is recommended that students concurrently enroll in the Liberal Studies section of ENGL 309.

LBST 400. Cooperative Internship in Liberal Studies1-6 Units

Term Typically Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer

Prerequisite(s): Minimum of 60 credit hours completed, and minimum 2.5 GPA, and completed "Application for Enrollment" form from Liberal Studies program advisor.

Description: An assignment with an institution, agency, or business in a job related to the student's academic program.

LBST 401. Senior Capstone Project - CUE1 Unit

Term Typically Offered: Fall, Spring

Prerequisite(s): LBST 300.

Description: Preparation and oral presentation of a summary of the elements of the student's individualized program of study, illustrating how the various fields that formed the student's self-designed interdisciplinary coursework have combined to create a curriculum aimed at the student's own professional goals or specific area of intellectual interest.

Course Attribute(s): CUE - This course fulfills the Culminating Undergraduate Experience (CUE) requirement for certain degree programs. CUE courses are advanced-level courses intended for majors with at least 90 earned credits/senior-level status.

LBST 500. Senior Proseminar3 Units

Prerequisite(s): LBST 300.

Description: Seniors in the Liberal Studies program present the results of their research and independent study to other majors.
