Portuguese (PORT)

PORT 131. Accelerated Portuguese I6 Units

Description: For beginners. Basic grammar, with practice in hearing, speaking, reading, and writing.

PORT 132. Accelerated Portuguese II6 Units

Prerequisite(s): PORT 131 or permission of instructor.
Description: Continuation of PORT 131. A treatment of more advanced grammar topics and the continuation of work with the development of language fluency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

PORT 175. Introduction to Portuguese Language3-6 Units

Prerequisite(s): Participation in a language course taught in Portugal administered by Portugal Studies Program.
Description: Portuguese language at "inicial" level. Course taught in Portugal. Reading, writing, speaking, understanding skills.

Prerequisite(s): PORT 202, PORT 132, or permission of instructor.
Description: Critical readings and interpretation of works in Portuguese whose themes and issues have relevance to today's world. Topics may vary.
