Minor in Music

Students wishing to minor in music must meet the minimum admission requirements of the School of Music with a 2.75 GPA  and 21 ACT and must obtain approval from the School of Music.

At least three (3) semester hours of the requirements for a minor must be successfully completed while enrolled in the University of Louisville. 

Students enrolled in the Minor in Music are strongly encouraged to enroll in a cross-listed course, MUH 205MUH 214, or MUH 218, for their General Education: Cardinal Core credits in Arts and Humanities  (AH) and/or U.S. or Global Perspectives (P1/P2).

Students who do not pass the computer-based Fundamentals Test prior to the beginning of the fall semester are required to enroll in MUS 91 Theory I Drill for 0 credit concurrently with MUS 141 Theory & Musicianship I.

Students may count up to 4 hours of Major Ensemble - MUS 109 and 2 hours of Minor Ensemble - MUS 119 toward the Music Minor.
