Program Information

The School of Music offers a minor in Music & New Media available to all UofL students.  For non-music majors, students must meet the minimum admission requirement of the School of Music with a 2.75 GPA and must obtain approval from the School of Music. In addition, students must complete MUS 170 or MUS 171 with a grade of B or better for admission to the minor. No audition is required.

For graduation, in addition to all other degree requirements, a 2.5 GPA in Music and New Media minor program core course work and a 2.5 cumulative UofL GPA are required. Students enrolled in the Music & New Media minor are strongly encouraged to enroll in a cross-listed course- MUH 205, MUH 214, or MUH 218 – for their General Education credits in Arts and Humanities and/or U.S. or Global Perspectives.

Students who do not pass the computer-based Fundamentals Test prior to the beginning of the fall semester are required to enroll in MUS 91 Theory I Drill for 0 credit concurrently with MUS 141 Theory & Musicianship I.

At least three (3) semester hours of the requirements for a minor must be successfully completed while enrolled in the University of Louisville.
