School Social Work (RANK1)
Application Requirements
Applicants to the Rank I School Social Work program must submit the following:
- Completed UofL graduate application submitted at https://apply.graduate.louisville.edu/apply/. Applicants must apply to the School of Social Work.
- Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent by the issuing institution to the UofL Graduate School. Transcripts issued to the candidate, and/or uploaded by the candidate, are considered unofficial.
- International transcripts must be evaluated per UofL Graduate School requirements: https://graduate.louisville.edu/admission/international/evaluation
Admission Requirements
- Complete application (including all checklist items above and payment submitted).
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75.
Program admission dates: Spring, Summer or Fall semester
Application Deadlines: December 1 for Spring, April 1 for Summer, and August 1 for Fall
Students in this Rank-1 program are required to complete and sign an official School Social Work specialization program sheet when admitted to the program.

Midpoint Assessment: Successful completion 15 credit hours with no grade lower than B-; scored target or better on Rubric for Advanced Programs; minimum 3.0 GPA.
Exit Assessment: Successful completion of all required coursework with no grade lower than B-; scored Target or better on Rubric for Advanced Programs; minimum 3.0 GPA with no grade lower than C. Hallmark Assessment Task to be completed in EDSP 669 or equivalent project that demonstrates proficiency in the Kentucky Academic Standards.
- Each Rank I candidate must complete a total of 60 graduate credit hours, including a Master’s degree/Rank II in Social Work.
- Transfer credit must be officially accepted by the advisor and final acceptance is dependent upon receipt of official transcripts.
- A minimum of 15 graduate credit hours must be completed at the University of Louisville.
- This degree program sheet must be accompanied by a signed School Social Work specialization program sheet as well.

Courses are required for students completing the School Social Work Specialization and Rank I program.
