Educational Administration (Rank 1)
Application Requirements
Applicants to the Rank I in Educational Administration program must submit the following:
- Completed UofL graduate application submitted at https://apply.graduate.louisville.edu/apply/
- Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent by the issuing institution to the UofL Graduate School. Transcripts issued to the candidate, and/or uploaded by the candidate, are considered unofficial.
- International transcripts must be evaluated per UofL Graduate School requirements: https://graduate.louisville.edu/admission/international/evaluation
- Copy of current Kentucky Education certificate/licensure
Admission Requirements
- Complete application (including all checklist items above and payment submitted).
- Master’s degree in Education from an accredited institution and Rank II status in Kentucky.
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for undergraduate work and 3.0 for graduate work.
Program admission dates: Spring, Summer or Fall semester
Application Deadlines: December 1 for Spring, April 1 for Summer, and August 1 for Fall

Mid-Point Requirement: Candidates are required to submit a mid-point performance assessment to their faculty advisor at the completion of fifteen (15) credit hours of coursework and designed collaboratively with the faculty advisor. The faculty advisor will assess the candidate's performance assessment, which must be at the exemplary or accomplished level. The performance assessment must address the PSEL standards and include a leadership profile and personal growth goal to be assessed in the exit portfolio and/or oral defense of the portfolio.
Exit Assessment: Hallmark Assessment Task for LEAD 679 OR LEAD 782 or equivalent project that demonstrates proficiency in the PSEL Standards; Course project must address all of the PSEL Standards including artifacts associated with each standard submission. Additionally, an updated leadership profile and a reflection of personal progress toward the midpoint growth goal is required. Students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. No grade below a C+ will be accepted.
- Completion of a Rank I program requires a minimum of 60 graduate credit hours, including an approved Master’s degree.
- Up to fifteen (15) credit hours of graduate credit may be transferred to the Rank I program upon advisor approval and receipt of official transcript(s).
- A minimum of fifteen (15) graduate credit hours must be completed at the University of Louisville.
